Liberal Democrat Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor’s Christmas Card Appeal has raised over £6,000 for local charities this year.
The appeal, which was supported by local businesses from across the town, will go to two charities this time, Watford Women’s Centre and DRUM Watford.
Watford Women’s Centre has been in the town for 30 years and gives all year-round support to women who are victims of rape, sexual violence and domestic abuse.
DRUM Watford is another long-established charity, which provides support and activities to adults with sensory and physical disabilities.
The winner of the Mayor’s Christmas card design competition was Angela, who is a member of DRUM and a keen painter.
Liberal Democrat Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “I’d like to thank all businesses who generously supported my Christmas card appeal this year, which will go towards helping two fantastic local charities.
“It was also great to meet Angela, who’s design beat a tough field of entries to win this time. She’s a great advocate of the work DRUM does and a very talented artist. One of our town’s great strengths is our generosity and things like really show what a caring place Watford is.”
The money raised from the appeal will be split evenly between DRUM and Watford Women’s Centre.
