Thousands attended Abbots Langley and Bedmond Churches over the festive period to enjoy services from nativity plays, Christingle Services and midnight mass. More than 2,000 people attended various services at St Lawrence Church and the Church of Ascension in Bedmond, which started with the lightening of the first advent candle and the setting off of the churches Travelling Crib. This year the travelling Crib, which went from house to house and shop to shop from December 1, was returned during the service. The Crib was presented to Reverend David Warner who persuades local shop and home owners to display the crib at a window the time it is with them. Carol Higgs, member of the church, spoke about the churches midnight mass, she commented: “Many of those attending the candlelit services do so every year and some of those who have been coming for many years, have brought their children along and are now bringing their grandchildren. “Each service is really special and very much a part of the way Abbots Langley comes together to celebrate Christmas with friends and family.” Katherine Bunting, who has played the role of Mary for several years in the nativity play, had a special time as her new born son Tobias, played the role of Jesus.
