A former Gerrards Cross supermarket is set to become a pub later this year, under £2.34 million plans to turn the former Marks & Spencer Simply Food site into a brand new pub called The Journeyman.
The Oakman Group have submitted the plans to Buckinghamshire Council, for the ‘proposed development of existing retail property to form a Sui generis public house and restaurant to trade on ground floor level with staff accommodation at first floor level.’
Founder and Executive Chairman of The Oakman Group, Peter Borg-Neal, said: “Gerrards Cross is a town we wanted to be represented in right from the start of the Oakman journey in 2007. I know many people who live in and around Gerrards Cross and they have always said that we could do very well here.
“The problem has always been finding a suitable site. We have looked at several possible locations in the area but couldn’t find the right one until now. The building was previously a car showroom, and the generous dimensions and high ceiling would make an excellent setting for a dramatic yet convivial atmosphere.”
The Journeyman is proposed to be opening in autumn 2022.
