Northwood resident Becky Leighann Smith has set up a petition for March 26 to become an NHS national appreciation day.
Becky decided to start the petition following the nationwide round of applause on March 26 at 8pm, as a thank you to everything the NHS are doing.
As she walked out of her front door to the sounds of cheers, clapping and whistles she described feeling overwhelmed and emotional.
She said: “A thank you for everything they do and continue to do for all of us.
“Members of staff are risking their own health and lives to look after the sick and vulnerable.
“They are going into work every single day not knowing what is going to happen next.
They are stopping all contact with their own family’s in order to try and save a member of somebody else’s.
“They are tired, they are hungry and yet every shift they are there on time ready to face the unimaginable.
“Let’s not keep the support to just one evening, let’s make this a very special day for us all to continue showing the NHS our true support.”
