A teenage singer and songwriter from Kings Langley has reached the semi-finals of the prestigious UK Songwriting Contest. Fabio Sanguinetti Whyte, 15, has just been told that his song Struggled to Get Here has been selected in the under 18 category. The contest is a major international competition, now in its 14th year, and attracts thousands of entries from all over the world. This year’s judges include Sting’s producer Kipper Eldridge and other big names in the music business. Four more of Fabio’s songs are still being considered for a Commended Entry Award. Fabio has been writing and performing since he was 11 years old. He has already produced two CDs of his own songs and is now working on a third. This is his greatest success so far and he is very excited by it. He said: “When I saw the results on the contest’s web site I couldn’t believe my eyes. It’s cool, I love it and I’m really excited about it. I never dreamed I’d get this far.” Fabio’s songs come from his own personal experiences, but the themes are ones everyone can relate to. He records them in his home studio and plays all the instruments himself. He is now hoping to make it through to the finals and the chance of working with a top producer. The results will be announced in November. You can hear Fabio’s song on: https://soundcloud.com/free-hip-hop-beats-1/i-struggled-to-get-here
