SWITCH UP: Amersham Town Football Club announce new management

Published on: 11th July 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Amersham Town Football Club has welcomed new manager alongside a change in management staff.

Stuart Atkins was announced as the football club’s new first team manager following the resignation of the former manager James Hall.

Stuart Atkins has coached and managed at several clubs in the region and, most recently, enjoyed considerable success in the 2020/21 season with Oxhey Jets.

Club chairman Simon Damery explained: “We knew we had to move quickly to secure a new head coach. We have a new club strategy which formed the basis of the specification for the new manager. Our search led to several applicants but it was clear that Stuart and his coaching team shared a similar vision so we’ve moved quickly to make the appointment.”

Speaking on his new position, Stuart said: “I have been aware of Amersham Town as an active and improving community club with great facilities. I was therefore extremely pleased, with my coaches, to be invited to meet members of the committee to discuss the role of manager. It was immediately apparent that we were in tune with their ambitions.

“I am keen to match the huge improvements they have made off the pitch with success on the pitch married with an expansion of the opportunities for local players. We have several attractive friendlies lined up, particularly against Chesham United in the John Hearn Trophy on 23rd July and I am really looking forward to the coming season.”
