Two swimmers from Watford Swimming Club have triumphed after competing in one of the toughest long-distance swimming events.
Prisha Tapre, 14, and Felipe Irvine, 13, completed the Champion of Champions, run by the British Long Distance Swimming Association, and completed several swims in Dover Harbour.
The pair competed in three swims over five miles, three miles and one mile, separated only by a short interval.
Despite the water temperature being just 15C, the championship is strictly non-wetsuit in line with Channel swimming rules.
Prisha was awarded the BLDSA Fred Slater Trophy for Swimmer of the Year 2022 and Felipe received the Elise Brook Encouragement & Perseverance Trophy.
Paul Meyler, team manager at the club, said: “An amazing achievement for both, showing real courage and determination. We are very proud of our open water swimmers.”
