HOLY HELP: Three Rivers churches join forces for children’s mental health initiative

Published on: 1st July 2023   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Churches across Croxley are working together with churches in Chorleywood and Rickmansworth on a project designed to help young people’s mental health.

As part of the Trinity Project, specially trained mentors will work with local schools to help educate staff, students and parents on various issues, such as spotting the early signs of poor mental health, through lunchtime clubs, workshops and themed offices.

St Oswald’s Church in Croxley will also be running weekly café sessions for Year 7 pupils, offering the chance for them to make friends and access wellbeing resources.

Reverend Simon Cutmore, vicar at St Peter’s and the Rural Dean of Rickmansworth, said: “There is clear evidence that the lockdowns during the pandemic had a negative impact on young people’s sense of wellbeing.

“The Trinity Project’s aim is to remove stigma around young people’s mental health and to signpost to other sources of specialist help.”
