A St Albans charity volunteer is set to take on a 13-kilometre swim in the River Thames for a fundraising challenge.
Peter Kordel will complete eight-mile swim on Sunday, August 13, starting in Henley and making the journey all the way up the river to Marlow.
He is taking on the challenge to raise money for St Albans-based charity Earthworks, where he volunteers as a treasurer.
The horticultural charity gives people with learning disabilities the opportunity to help manage 3.5 acres of eco-gardens, teaching them valuable skills and introducing them to a community.
Speaking to St Albans News, Peter said: “Last year, I swam the length of Coniston Water in the Lake District, about five-and-a-half water miles.
“This challenge is a step up in distance, but at least the water should be warmer (but potentially dirtier too). It’s on my birthday as well!”
Peter is aiming to raise £500. To donate, please visit his fundraising page.
