SUSTAINING SUCCESS: Abbots Langley Bowls Club looks ahead to new season after great year

Published on: 14th January 2025   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Abbots Langley Bowls Club (ALBC) enjoyed an action-packed end to the year, hosting a presentation evening as repair works begin around the ground for next season.

After both the Red and Blue teams were promoted in the Watford Veterans Bowls League in 2024, there was a lot to celebrate on presentation night.

ALBC captain Paul Henderson presented trophies to several winners, including the Abbots Langley Blue team for winning the Watford Veterans Bowls League Outdoor League Division Two.

ALBC secretary Steve Tincknell told ABBOTSnews: “We’re trying to keep people together [after the end of the season], and the presentation was very successful.

“The club is self-funded and is predominantly a summer club, however a number of our members also play at the Watford Indoor Bowls Club during the winter.

“One of our challenges is to keep the social side of the club active during the closed season. As part of these efforts, the club was recently challenged by some members of Kings Langley Bowls Club to a 10-pin bowling evening at the Hollywood Bowl, which was a great success and hopefully will be repeated.

“We also use the winter months to do grounds work and maintenance jobs around the club in preparation for next summer.”
