SUSTAINABLE SUPPORT: Croxley duo launch ‘green space’ which will support and drive community projects

A Croxley duo have kickstarted their vision to help the community with a coat drive which collected over 1,600 coats to support the Hands On London charity.

Laura Sandilands, a reformer Pilates teacher, set up business Fit Well this year and was joined by yoga teacher Carolyn Brightwell to host a coat drop as part of the charity’s Wrap Up London campaign.

Carolyn said that the coat drop went extremely well with the community rallying together to help the cause.

She said: “I just thought it was an amazing initiative, especially with what has happened this year. It is about to get freezing cold and I thought it would be amazing to help.

“It was an amazing feeling of unity and the community really working together.”

Laura added that they were blown away with the support and have had several people asking how they can get involved with future projects.

She said: “This was a catalyst and starting point to create an events calendar and allow people to approach us and let us know they want to be part of the projects.”

This is only the starts of their efforts to help bring people together and support the community as the duo launch The Green Space.

The Green Space refers to the building which is fronted by the Green Stores and backed by the Fit Well studio and Laura said the idea is to provide a space which supports the community.

She said: “Our vision is to provide a menu of classes & support services to enhance physical and mental wellbeing for members of our community.

“Providing a welcoming space to drive & support community projects, in an environmentally sustainable way.

“To enable collaborations between local services with a shared vision of improving well-being in the community.”
