Two students from Rickmansworth School presented their school’s eco successes at the Three Rivers Youth Council in November.
The event, which was attended by student representatives from 20 primary and secondary schools around the borough, offered student leaders the chance to discuss sustainability initiatives.
The representatives from Rickmansworth School had the chance to explain how they had qualified for the Eco-Schools Green Flag award, whilst the students from Yorke Mead illustrated their sustainability efforts through pre-loved uniform sales and building wormeries.
Rickmansworth School student Emma Collins, who attended the meeting, said: “It was inspiring to see all the schools collaborate and share ideas, as well as having the opportunity to present our own success. We also came back with exciting ideas from other schools.”
Founder of Sustainable Three Rivers (S3R) Rosi Jordon, who was invited to speak about Rickmansworth’s own sustainable garden, said: “I was so impressed by how knowledgeable and eager the youngsters were.
“The two students from Rickmansworth School have clearly done so much for their school.”
Bethany Barrett, play development officer at Three Rivers District Council, said: “Events like this where young people can collaborate with each other are essential for the future of sustainable development.
“It’s inspiring to see such a diverse and passionate group of young minds coming together to tackle environmental challenges.”
