Abbots Langley residents were shocked this month after a snake was discovered in a box on a village street.
The snake discovered in a plastic box on Breakspeare Road on January 4 was sadly found to be dead.
Local wildlife expert Chris Wicks from CW Wildlife was called by police to attend and help to deal with the snake.
Speaking to ABBOTSNEWS, Chris said the snake which was a reticulated python was around 12-15foot long and the “biggest he had seen.”
He said: “If anyone is seriously thinking of getting a snake should make sure they do all the research.
“Snakes have feelings and they need care. A snake that big should not have been kept in captivity.”
A spokesperson for Herts Police said: “Police were called at just after 9.30am on 4 January to reports of a suspicious package on Breakspeare Road, Abbots Langley.
“Officers attended and located a plastic box which sadly contained a deceased snake, which was then taken to a vet in a bid to trace the owner.”
