Herts Police have confirmed that a cordon which was placed around Atria shopping centre in Watford today (Wednesday, December 4) has been removed, after it was evacuated when a suspicious package was found.
Large crowds were seen gathered outside the Atria as shoppers were left unsure of what was happening.
It was later confirmed that the package was not a threat.
A statement from Herts Police said: “Police were called at around 10.30am to reports of a suspicious item located at the Atria shopping centre in Watford.
“The shopping centre was quickly evacuated, and a cordon was put in place in the area.
“Following a quick investigation, the item was declared non-suspicious and the cordon was taken down at around 11.20am.
“We’d like to thank people in the area for their cooperation as we dealt with this situation.”
