Highwood Primary School in Bushey has received a generous donation from Tesco Extra Watford’s community grant funding.

The Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ programme provides a single payment award of £500 to organisations who support vulnerable groups, as part of their emergency response in supporting local communities.

This includes organisations that have experienced increased demand or disruption to their services or to fund new community services.

Interim Co-Headteachers at Highwood School, Ms Green and Mrs Harte said: “We were very grateful to receive such a kind donation that will really benefit our school community at this time.”

Clare Faulkner, Office Manager said: “It was a wonderful surprise to be contacted by Seema Marsh, Community Champion at Tesco in Watford. She advised us that we had been put forward and selected as one of six schools for a donation of £500 cash plus a hamper.

“We were thrilled with the donation which will be put towards activities in school for the children, and we cannot thank Seema enough for this windfall which has come at such a difficult time for all.”

In the last six months, the Tesco Bags of Help programme has awarded £4 million to over 8,000 groups across the UK.
