Supermarket giant appeal after application blocked

Published on: 20th October 2017   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s have appealed the High Court’s decision to refuse a judicial review of the process through which planning permission was given for a proposed development in South Ruislip.

The chain were thwarted by the High Court last month when they refused Sainsbury’s application, ruling that Hillingdon Council followed proper procedures for the proposed Arla Foods development. The development, on the old Express Dairy site on Victoria Road, involves building a 40,000sq ft Asda supermarket, a cinema complex, five restaurants, 14 houses and 118 flats at the derelict former dairy site. It is also expected to create 530 jobs. Work had been scheduled to begin in March, but has been delayed by the legal proceedings.
