Croxley’s 23-year-old musician-in-residence Harry T Pope says that he wrote his second single, 11:11, as a Valentine’s Day present to his wife.
Speaking to CROXLEYnews, Harry explained: “I heard this superstition of making a wish when the clock turns 11:11. So, I started wishing that Darcie would have a good day. Then I published my song, 11:11, as a sort of Valentine’s Day gift to Darcie.”
Though 11:11 is only his second single, Harry has been writing music since early childhood. During Sixth Form, he was part of a band that played at CroxFest, after which Harry decided to study music at university.
He said: “During my third year studying music at King’s College London, I found myself directing almost every music society on campus. But most of my own songs were written when I was busy procrastinating other tasks, like my degree!”
At the age of 19, the budding songwriter was invited to teach music at Rickmansworth School, from which Harry had graduated only a year earlier. He is now an established music teacher.
Harry hopes to publish his third single this month.
He shared: “The ideal thing would be to ‘make it’, but teaching, gigging and playing as part of my cover band will be part of that.”
