A successful afternoon of live music and entertainment took place last month and raised almost £1,500 for Chris Wicks Wildlife Rescue Centre (CWWR).
Paul Jones, a local musician, organised the event after he took an abandoned fox to the rescue centre earlier in the year, and was inspired by the excellent work of Chris looking after the local animals at Stockers Farm.
On Saturday, August 14 the free event took place at The Boot pub in Sarratt and residents flocked to the pub garden to hear live bands, drink, socialise and meet the animals. Attendees enjoyed meeting Willow the barn owl along with fox cub Maisie and baby hedgehogs from the rescue centre.
One resident said about the event: “We had a fantastic afternoon. My little girl is still buzzing after getting to stroke a real life fox so thank you all. You are doing an amazing job for all these animals and we are lucky to have you.”
Another added: “The music was incredible. Such talent. It was one of the best afternoons I’ve had. Sunshine, music, food, wine, animals and the best company! Thank you for all your hard work! I’m looking forward to the next one.”
