A consultant anaesthetist who was caught arranging the sexual abuse of a seven-year-old girl has been struck off the medical register.
In January 2022, Mark Carrington, 49, was employed at the Royal Free Hospital (RFH) when he contacted a fetish website member who identified himself as the abusive father of two children. The individual behind the profile was a police officer.
Carrington has now been struck off the medical register, following a hearing in August.
He was sentenced at St Albans Crown Court after being found guilty of three charges of making indecent images of a child, as well as one count of arranging/facilitating the commission of a child sexual offence on April 1. Carrington was sentenced to 28 months’ imprisonment, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years, and will appear on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
A spokesperson for RFH said: “Following his arrest, Mark Carrington was immediately suspended from his role at RFH and he has been dismissed.”
