Strange win delights Jokanovic

Watford fought back from two goals down against relegation threatened Blackpool to record a stunning 7-2 victory.

With Watford two goals down against the Seasiders, Slavisa Jokanovic’s message was calm, clear and concise in the new Vicarage Road dressing rooms after a below-par opening 45 minutes from his players. After the game, Jokanovic reflected: “The only message from me to the players was to believe in themselves and their team-mates and we can change the situation.” Jokanovic felt the change was necessary and a key one. Tommie Hoban was the man sacrificed and new signing Ben Watson was introduced into the heart of the Watford midfield alongside Daniel Tozser and Miguel Layun for an action-packed debut for the ex-Wigan man. “It was a strange game,” said Jokanovic with a smile. “We started with many problems. We struggled with long balls but after the first half my team made a good reaction. “We definitely needed one midfielder more, we tried with Vydra, but Watson helped us and we played better and were more compact.” Asked if he’d ever seen a game like the one against Blackpool, he commented that he hadn’t witnessed anything like it. “No, I have never seen anything like this,” he explained. “I have never seen anything similar. We showed two different faces in the game today. “I believed at half-time, we all believed we could change the situation, I didn’t see seven goals coming though, but we did score seven and I must be happy. “It is three points, now we are in January and all points are big. “In front of us is 19 games. On Friday we have another important game against Bournemouth and if we’d arrived at this game without these three points it would have been very difficult against one of the top Championship teams.”
