STOLEN VEHICLES: Police share advice following series of car thefts in Radlett

Published on: 5th March 2024   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Police are reminding people to double check that their vehicles are locked and secured following several thefts in Radlett.

Over the past three months, police have received 13 reports of thefts from motor vehicles, but it is believed the actual number of incidents could be higher.

PC Rosie Jones, from the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), said: “It is believed that some offences may be going unreported. If you have been a victim, no matter how small the theft was, we’d urge you to please report this to police so that we can build up a true picture of what is happening and direct our resources as necessary.

“In most instances, the vehicles targeted are believed to have been left unlocked. It can be easy to forget during busy daily life but taking a few seconds to double check that your vehicle is fully secured can help stop an opportunist thief.

“It’s also vital that you remove all items from display and ensure that nothing of value is kept inside. Items such as loose change, coats and sunglasses can be enough to entice someone to break in.

“We’ve been conducting regular proactive patrols in hotspot areas, but we cannot be everywhere at once. Taking some simple steps to help better protect your property could make a big difference.

“If you witness any suspicious activity around vehicles, please call 999 straight away.”
