Zooming into the new year, a Croxley schoolboy is making a name for himself in the world of go-karting.
Twelve-year-old Max Wheatley is racing towards a successful career, having won the championships at Kimbolton and Rye House, come 3rd at Whilton Mill, and achieved 22 podiums, 14 first places, and four lap records.
Max’s journey began with his first race in August 2020. Since then, he has gone on to win 14 times and achieve four lap records.
Max, who attends Croxley Danes School, has hit speeds of up to 70mph.
Like every great racer, he has a supportive mechanic team behind him, made up of his dad Mark and his dad’s best friend Roy Farmer.
Speaking to CROXLEYnews, Mark joked: “Unfortunately, he is quite good so we have to help him complete these events! We are into mechanics and that side of it, but it’s just something we have learnt as we have gone along.
“Max lives for his go-karting and has raced against some of the best in the country. He wants to be out as much as possible and do the high levels next year.”
Max said: “I would like to say a big thank you to my family, friends and sponsors who have help me on my journey, including Luke Christie Racing, KR Sport Race engines, Hydrorace, Hype X, Twocan Graphics, EBC Brakes.”
Supported by his team Luke Christie Racing, Max is planning to take part in Whilton Mill and PF International Championships before potentially competing in the British Kart Championships.
He is currently looking for sponsors. Contact him via Instagram @max_wheatley_12.
