Two local youth RAF Cadets organisations attended Harrow Council’s Battle of Britain Service, hosted at St John’s Church in Stanmore last month.
Regiments 1454 Harrow and 2236 Stanmore went to the event on Sunday, September 15, including Air Training Corps Cadets, Sea Cadets and Scouts, who gave a guard of honour to the Mayor of Harrow councillor Salim Chowdhury and Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Harrow Simon Owens.
The service commemorated former airmen who served and died during the military campaign that took place in the skies during the Second World War.
Stanmore has its own piece of history to remember from the Battle of Britain, as Bentley Priory was the headquarters of the RAF Fighter Command during the Second World War.
A spokesperson for Harrow Squadron said: “The service remembered local former airmen that made the ultimate sacrifice during the air campaign that ultimately saved Britain.”
