Kacee Balie from Rickmansworth has won a competition which will see her logo design printed on the uniforms worn by St John Ambulance staff for the next year.
The talented 16 year old, who is a member of the St John Ambulance Cadets, said: “I discovered that art was my thing a few years ago. I have Tourette’s, but every time I draw, my mind is clear and peaceful. Art has really helped my mental health.”
Kacee left mainstream education and began home-schooling at the age of 11, which afforded her much more time to invest in art. She has now decided to apply to study art at college.
“Usually, a professional artist designs the logo, but St John decided this year that maybe a cadet could do it, so they held a competition,” explained Kacee. “It will be really nice to have this achievement on my CV for when I apply to art school.”
