Scouts believe in putting nature first, so it was only apt that the Squirrel section of the 79th Bushey and Oxhey Scout Group were invited to give a path in Fishers Field Nature Reserve a new name.
The name ‘Squirrels’ Trail’ was selected and a wooden signpost with two arms was commissioned – one pointing to the existing Wellie Boot Path and the other to Squirrels’ Trail.
On Tuesday, June 3, a special event was held to celebrate the installation of the new signpost.
The Squirrels group enjoyed taking part in a scavenger hunt, followed by a recycling activity in which they used old cardboard to create a noughts and crosses game.
Bushey North councillor Louise Nicolas thanked everyone involved and praised the collaboration between the local Scout group and The Friends of Fishers Field.
Speaking with BUSHEYnews, member of the group Marion Roberts said: “It was a memorable afternoon, and we appreciated the opportunity to welcome the Squirrels and their dedicated leaders.”
