SPORTS UPGRADE: Northwood private boys’ school submits plans for new hockey pitch

Published on: 24th February 2024   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

A private boys’ school in Northwood has applied for planning permission to install an artificial hockey pitch in their grounds.

Merchant Taylors’ School (MTS) is looking to construct a grass pitch with an adjoining warm-up area, perimeter ball-stop fencing, a flood lighting system, dugouts, and other associated facilities.

The pitch will be installed alongside the school’s existing sports facilities, which include outdoor cricket nets and a cricket centre, a heated indoor swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, an athletics track, and lakes for windsurfing and sailing.

The school’s neighbours have been informed of the proposals, and no objections have been received.

A spokesperson for MTS said: “We are always looking to update and enhance the quality of our facilities on offer at MTS and this new artificial grass hockey pitch will greatly benefit our students and our partner organisations. We look forward to supporting the local community by sharing our facilities and are grateful for the strong support that we have received for the hockey pitch so far.”
