Stanmore Cricket Club (SCC) secured a prestigious junior cricket tournament win last month at one of the world’s most iconic grounds.
On Sunday, March 30, Lord’s Cricket Ground played host to an exciting morning of cricket as the U10 Junior Middlesex Association Indoor Finals got underway.
After weeks of competition featuring 21 teams, it was SCC who emerged victorious, claiming the 2024/25 championship.
SCC entered the finals in top form, having gone unbeaten in the league stage with four wins from four matches. Their momentum continued through the semi-finals, where they secured two more wins to earn their place in the final showdown.
The team, made up of eight local schoolchildren, warmed up in the amazing facilities before taking on the challenge. Winning the toss, SCC chose to bat first and put up a net score of 73, losing four wickets in the process.
Their bowling effort was equally strong. With disciplined deliveries and some sharp fielding, including a few impressive catches, SCC managed to restrict Hampstead to 57 runs, taking eight wickets along the way.
With that performance, SCC were crowned U10 Junior Middlesex Association Indoor Champions for the 2024/25 season, a proud moment for the team, their coaches, the supporters and the club alike.
One of the players even won the Most Valuable Player plaque.
