A squad of relay swimmers from a Rickmansworth school had the fastest qualification times in the whole of the East of England in a region-wide swimming contest.
The team from Charlotte House Prep School for Girls attended the English Schools Swimming Association (ESSA) East Primary School Team Championships 2022 heats on Friday, March 11, and did remarkably well.
The girls won both their medley and freestyle categories of relay swimming, with them also winning the Small Schools County Shield prize as an award for their achievements.
Head of PE Mrs Muchamore spoke about how proud she was of her young students. “Training wasn’t always easy throughout lockdown. But the enthusiasm and commitment the girls have shown has never diminished. They embody our school motto, ‘I am, I can, I ought, I will!”
Miss Woodcock, the Head, remarked, “I am delighted with all of the swimmers’ performances on the day and to qualify first in the east of England is really a magnificent achievement. Now we cannot wait for the finals!”
The swim squad is now set to compete in the National Finals, which are set to take place in June at Ponds Ford International Sports Centre in Sheffield.
