SPECIAL VISIT: Four-year-old gets surprise birthday visit from Rickmansworth police

Published on: 17th April 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

Celebrating your fourth birthday stuck indoors is not the way Toby, from Mill End, probably wanted to do things, but Rickmansworth Police ensured he was treated with a surprise visit.

Toby was originally meant to have a celebration birthday party and have a trip to Legoland, but the coronavirus had put a halt to those plans.

His uncle, Darren Garner who lives in Croxley Green, organised a visit from the police when he called up Rickmansworth Station to see if anything could be done for his nephew.

Darren’s two daughters, Holly and Abigail, suggested the idea as Toby loves the police and saw the idea online when something similar happened abroad.

Speaking to RickyNews, Darren said: “Toby loves the police so when my daughters suggested the idea, I thought I should try and arrange something for him.

“His party and trip to Legoland was obviously cancelled, so we thought we’d try our luck to see if we could do something nice for him.”

A few police cars, a van and a 4×4 turned up at the house and gave a mini goodie bag to Toby as well as a certificate wishing him a happy birthday.

The visit was filmed by Toby’s family’s neighbours, the Beckley family, and gave the whole street something to talk about.

Darren continued: “The whole family are really appreciative of what they did, they really went above and beyond.

“As well as the visit, Toby was also offered a tour of Rickmansworth Police Station when things go back to normal, which is something he can look forward to.”
