The resident band ensemble based at the Royal Albert Hall made a special visit to provide cheer to guests at a Chorleywood retirement home.

Albert’s Band arrived in style at Chorleywood Beaumont, performing medleys of songs from their ongoing Songbook Tour, which included numbers from Shirley Bassey, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and the Beatles amongst others.

They also regaled residents with tales of what it is like to work at a world-famous music venue such as the Royal Albert Hall.

The band made the appearance at the home as part of their ongoing community outreach project, after it was nominated for one by Chorleywood resident and local nurse, Adeyinka Arroyewun.

Adeyinka was able to attend the event with her neighbour Lillian, and was clapping along with everyone else as the band performed their closing number, the iconic Vera Lynn hit “We’ll Meet Again”.

General manager of the home, Ramona Stanciu, said: “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day singing along with the wonderful performers. We are very grateful to Adeyinka for the nomination.

“We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Chorleywood Beaumont as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!”

96-year-old Maisie Riley, a resident at Chorleywood Beaumont, said: “I love music and I love to dance. The band played some of my favourite songs. The classics never go out of style!”
