Inspired by her sister, Lucy Davies completed the Big Half Marathon last month to raise funds for the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre in Northwood.
Ruislip resident Charlotte was diagnosed with melanoma, a form of skin cancer, in 2018. Over the next six years, she underwent operations, chemotherapy and countless scans.
In 2024, she was finally given the all-clear.
To honour her sister’s resilience and raise funds for the charity, Lucy decided to take on the 13.1-mile challenge.
The centre, based at Mount Vernon Hospital, played a vital role in Charlotte’s cancer care.
Speaking to NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews, Lucy said: “Paul Strickland Scanner Centre was also able to give [my sister] safe options for surveillance scanning while she was pregnant with my nephew.
“Nothing can prepare you for the news, or what’s to come next. I’m so proud of my big sister and how she navigated a terrifying time with immense bravery and strength.”
At the time of writing, Lucy has raised over £1,800. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/page/lucy-lvd
