Despite losing her most recent match by split decision, a young Muay Thai fighter from Watford has been described as “the UK’s rising star”.

At the Muay Thai Super Series 2 on Saturday, February 22, Ellie Harber faced her toughest opponent yet: Australian-born WBC gold medalist and WBC Bantamweight State Champion Fon Piggott.

Ellie, who has previously won 12 world gold medals and eight European gold medals, sadly lost the match by split decision.

Following the fight, Fon shared on her social media: “Ellie is one of the most incredible Muay Femur fighters [a style of technical fighter] I have come across throughout my training and fighting journey and I knew this going into the fight.

“I have so much respect for Ellie, and I’ll continue following her journey. She is destined for huge things! I am so grateful our paths crossed and that I was able to share the ring with her.”

Ellie responded to the post saying: “Thank you Fon, I enjoyed that!”

Ellie already has her next bout lined up. She will face Carmen Feeney on Saturday, April 19.
