A club spokesperson for Abbots Youth FC has given ABBOTSnews an overview of the club’s Under 10 Yellows squad.

They said: “The Abbots Youth Under 10 Yellows is in the West Herts league and plays its home matches at Manor House Playing Fields.

“It has a squad of 13 players, the majority of whom have played together since joining the club at Under 6 level.

“Having moved through the age groups together, the boys are now great friends, and this can be seen in the way they work together and support each other when they are out on the pitch.

“The boys who joined later have integrated well and added strength and depth to the squad.

“During lockdown, the coaches made every effort to keep the boys connected with regular virtual training sessions, Zoom quizzes and catch ups to maintain the team closeness.

“The boys dealt with the stop start nature of the season superbly and are now relishing being back out there playing the game they all love now that lockdown has lifted.

“The passion and hard work they put in during training can be seen on the pitch on match days with some superb football being played during games translating into some great results.

“The boys always come off the pitch having given their all and, most importantly, having enjoyed playing the game.

“As this season comes to a close, thoughts move on to next season when the boys will have to adapt to playing nine-a-side football and the dreaded offside rule! Needless to say, both the boys and the coaches are relishing this new challenge.”
