A man has been charged with drink driving after police in Stanmore found a badly damaged vehicle and two broken lampposts.
A picture shared on social media by Harrow Police showed the silver Volvo’s front driver’s side was severely smashed, with the wheel separated from the main body of the car and road signs and debris scattered near to the wreck.
Police officers in Harrow do not believe any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The vehicle was found abandoned in Stanmore, at the junction of Uxbridge Road and Old Church Lane at 5am on Sunday, May 20.
Police officers traced the suspected driver to his home address, where they found the 24-year-old, who appeared to have been drinking.
A roadside breath test revealed he was above the legal alcohol limit and he was taken to a police station, where he was charged with driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and drink driving.
