SLOW DOWN: Residents concern over people speeding off in sports cars in Chalfont St Peter

Published on: 7th September 2020   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

People with sports cars speeding along Market Place have been causing concerns amongst Chalfont St Peter residents.

They are concerned about the safety of their loved ones after noticing people with sports cars are using Market Place as a ‘test track’.

One local man took to social media and said: “It’s not Hangar Straight, it’s a village with residents who are becoming sick and tired of hearing the screech of tyres as they corner the roundabout outside Barclays at full whack and then hit 70 plus going up the hill.

“It is residential and all it takes is one mistake before it effects someone’s loved ones or yourselves. Please slow down.”

A lady said a while back her husband was almost hit by one of these cars.

She mentioned: “I cannot agree more since about 12 years ago, some drivers decided it was a good idea to race down Market Place from Gold Hill. Unfortunately, one car mounted the pavement and almost hit my husband and son before crashing through one of the hair salons.”

Another person commented: “What the idiots do not understand is we have had accidents in this village and people have been hurt. The fact is we need speed cameras because we have a lot of brainless idiots driving their modest cars like rally drivers.”
