Dacorum-based homeless charity, DENS, has been hit hard during the pandemic with many of their planned events cancelled.
They are urging you to help keep their vital services running by making their Sleepout event happen, albeit in a different format.
Last year a group of the MyLocalNews team also took part in the sleepout to raise money for the charity.
Event Manager Nicky Maxwell-Braithwaite said unfortunately there won’t be sleepout in person this year.
She said: “Sadly, we cannot come together at a ‘live’ Sleepout this year, and we desperately now need your help to raise funds to support local vulnerable people. So for this year, we want you to take part in YOUR Sleepout; swapping your cosy bed for your sleeping bag”
Nicky added: “Whether you sleep in your garden, your office, or camp out in your living room, YOUR Sleepout is a great way to catch up with your friends, family and colleagues, whilst also supporting vulnerable people in your community and to experience first-hand, and highlight the issues, that homeless people face”
Sleepout Sponsor, Martin Fieldman, Managing Director of Abodebed Hemel said: “At Abodebed we know that it’s more than just providing a roof and a bed for the night. That’s why we’re proud to be supporting DENS who not only provide homeless people a place to stay, but also support them to move forward with their lives”.
Registration is just £5 to enter and is open to everybody. Sign up today at dens.org.uk/sleepout or email fundraising@dens.org.uk for further information.
