ANOTHER CUP RUN? Kings Langley progress in FA Cup after penalty shootout drama

Published on: 23rd September 2020   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Kings Langley F.C

Kings Langley progressed to the next stage of the FA Cup in September, but it wasn’t without an early scare and penalty drama to bail them out against lower league side Clacton, after the 90 minutes ended with the score line at 1-1.

Chris Cummins’ men were desperate to bounce back from their opening day defeat in the BetVictor Southern Premier League Central against Stratford Town, which was also the club’s first loss of 2020.

An early penalty for the away side set the tone for the first half, and it wasn’t until the dying seconds of the half where Kings brought things back through Jorell Johnson’s headed effort from a corner.

It was goalkeeper Liam Studley who ended up being the hero of the night, saving two of Clacton’s four penalties in the shootout.

At the time of writing, the draw for the Second Qualifying round had not yet been drawn, but the game is scheduled to take place on the weekend commencing October 3.

The club reached the Fourth Qualifying Round last season, which is the final hurdle before the First Round Proper after they beat Barking, Folkestone Invicta and Corinthian Casuals, before losing at National League South side Maidstone United.
