SKYS THE LIMIT: Councillor vows to take on skydive to raise funds for charity

Published on: 13th August 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A councillor and community champion from Amersham will leap from a dizzying height to raise funds for charity.

Chair of Buckinghamshire Council and Amersham resident councillor Mimi Harker OBE will take on a skydive with BJ Tailor, a Community Champion from Amersham Tesco, as well as Neil Walker, David Brown, Rupert Cooklin and Claire Wise, on Saturday, September 28.

The group is hoping to raise £10,000 for Scannappeal, a charity which provides state-of-the-art medical equipment, as well as the charities cllr Harker supports as council chair.

Although cllr Harker describes herself as “the world’s biggest coward”, she remains positive.

She said: “I have vertigo and I’m terrified of flying and heights, but BJ has done a skydive before and he’s doing it again so it can’t be that bad!”

Cllr Harker supports Heart of Bucks, The Oasis Partnership and South Bucks Hospice.

She said: “These charities tackle difficult subjects – end of life care, and addiction issues – so they’re less talked about. I have a big mouth and I’m happy to say what needs to be said.”
