Hundreds headed to Croxley Skate Park this month to celebrate the return of a popular annual event.
On Saturday, August 14 residents flocked to the Skate Jam competition to witness a spectacular display of scooting, skateboarding and BMXing.
Throughout the day at the event organised by Three Rivers District Council (TRDC), the crowd witnessed fantastic tricks, leaving the panel of judges with a hard decision to pick the winners.
Councillor Debbie Morris, vice-chair of TRDC, awarded some of the prices on the day and was blown away by the talent.
She said: “There were some unbelievably talented young people taking part in the competitions. With skateboarding and BMX now in the Olympics, who knows, we may even have seen some future Olympians taking part.”
The event was open to everybody with Croxley based ABC Skateboarding providing free coaching in the morning.
Cllr Chris Lloyd, lead member for leisure at TRDC, who also attended the event, thanked local sponsors for donating prizes to the event.
He said: “The combination of sports, music and great weather gave the Jams a real festival feel about them. It was great to see it so well attended by participants and spectators alike. Thank you to all the local sponsors for donating prizes for the event.”
Further sponsorship and prizes were generously provided by Source BMX, Chili Scooters, Lariatt Skateboard Shop, Tasty Bean Café and Keep Rolling Co.
There was also a giant inflatable obstacle course provided by Apex 360 and a Zine workshop run by It’s Okay Project.
