A local singer will be featuring on the entirety of a popular BBC singing show early this year.
Simone Kaye, from Shenley, will be one of the hundred judges on all episodes of season two of BBC One’s All Together Now.
All Together Now, presented by comedian Rob Beckett and singer Geri Horner, is a singing contest – with a twist.
Each contestant must face a panel of 100 singers, who stand up and sing along if they are impressed by the talent on display – the winner is the singer who got the most judges to sing along with them.
Simone, who has provided backing vocals for the likes of Ariana Grande, Emeli Sande and Paloma Faith, told MyRadlettNews about her experience, saying: “It was filmed in Manchester so there was a lot of going up and down, but it was worth it. I got to meet people and had a lot of fun singing along. It’s an experience that you can’t really get anywhere else, completely unique.”
Simone, who moved to Shenley from Essex 15 years ago, is an experienced session singer who has done a range of different gigs, from choir work, to backing vocals and solo singing.
She said: “I love the job, I’ve been doing it for 20 years and it’s different every day, so I can’t say I’m ever stuck in a rut.”
When she got the call for this job, it was particularly different.
She said: “I’ve never done anything like the show. I got headhunted, someone contacted me from the show’s production team and I said I was very interested.
“They needed people on the panel of all different kind of acts and talents and of different ages across the board, so it was very interesting.
“I don’t if or when I’ll be seen in the programme, I’ll probably only be on it when I’m having a blonde moment! But we’ll see once it’s aired.”
