Watford High Street has been shut down by police tonight (Friday, February 7) after a young man was seriously assaulted.
The victim was airlifted to hospital after he was assaulted at around 4.50pm this afternoon near Costa Coffee in High Street.
It is believed he had an argument with a group of people immediately before he was assaulted and that the victim and suspects knew each other.
All vehicles are being blocked from entering the High Street from the Lower High Street and police have also taped off the area outside McDonald’s at the junction of Kings Street, though it is still open to pedestrians.
While a cordon is in place with police tape, there are no other signs of a crime scene at this time.
Police are appealing for information. If you have any information about the assault or know who may be responsible, please contact police on 101 quoting reference 550 of today’s date.
Due to the police incident, Unobus’s 602 and 635 buses are departing from Beechen Grove
HIGH ROAD, WATFORD: Routes 142 258 are on diversion due to a police incident. Buses are diverted from Lower High Street and left onto Exchange Road. Buses are missing the stop King Street.
