Parents whose children attended a nursery in Rickmansworth were shocked to find out about the sudden closure of the pre-school with immediate effect last month.
Little Speckled Frogs Nursery closed on Monday, November 1 with immediate effect.
The nursery, for children aged 0-5, based at St John’s Ambulance Hall, Berry Lane, no longer has a website or any social media pages, and one parent said they only received an email about the important news in the “early hours of the Sunday before.”
The parent, who wishes to remain anonymous, told MyLocalNews: “We are not exactly sure of the reason, but families have been left out of pocket and with no nursery place for their children.”
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said: “We were informed by a Director of Little Speckled Frogs on Tuesday, November 2 that the day nursery had closed with immediate effect due to the company being dissolved by Companies House. The nursery confirmed they informed parents on October 29 that the nursery would not be open from November 1.
“Our Early Years Service immediately made contact with parents to offer support in finding new childcare and we are currently working with them to find alternative nursery provision. The local authority has no involvement in the reimbursement of fees to parents as this is a business contract between the parent and the nursery.”
Little Speckled Frogs Nursery were contacted for comment.
Hopefully them parents can follow some legal route to get their money back. It is completely wrong that a nursery can just shut down like that and not be giving reimbursements. I would be getting a claims company or my solicitor to contact them to get my money back.
The owner of this company was certainly up to something dodgy. Having spoken with ex staff they were also not getting their pension paid although it was coming out of their wages! This person needs to be investigated.
