Residents have shared their concerns over an increase in rat sightings around ASDA supermarket in Garston.
Last month, a social media post from a resident noted an increase in rat sightings around the supermarket on St Albans Road, which led to nearly 60 comments from other locals.
The post claimed that “managers don’t seem to be interested” in the sightings. However, some of the responses seemed more accepting of the creatures.
One commenter said: “Rats are a part of our ecosystem. This planet doesn’t exist exclusively for humans.”
Councillor Aga Dychton, Deputy Mayor of Watford and portfolio holder for community, said: “We understand residents’ concerns about reported rat sightings. As with any case when reported to the council, we’ll inspect and assist businesses with waste disposal advice and further preventative measures if required.
“Through thorough inspections and effective measures, it ensures Watford stays a safe and healthy environment for everyone.”
ASDA declined to comment.
