A man has been arrested this morning in connection with an incident in Abbots Langley.

It was reported that an 18 year old woman was sexually assaulted by touching which led to the arrest of a man.

On Thursday September 30, it was alleged that the victim was approached by a man at a bus stop and that he made inappropriate comments towards her, before stroking her arm.

Officers were deployed to the area to conduct reassurance patrols following similar reports of a man behaving inappropriately in the Upper Highway area.

A 65 year old man from Abbots Langley has been arrested in connection with the incidents, and is in police custody at this time.

Sergeant Jon Brown said: “We understand that incidents of this nature are hugely concerning, and we hope that this arrest reassures the public that we take reports of this nature very seriously.

“We will continue to have officers patrolling the area to make sure that all is in order. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

“I would like to take this opportunity to encourage anyone who believes they may have been a victim of any form of sexual abuse or harassment to report it to police. Please be assured that you will always be treated with the utmost sensitivity and respect from us.”
