A Chorleywood school has celebrated the legacy of a much-loved former headteacher with the renaming of its library.
The newly titled Dr Valentine Learning Resource Centre was officially unveiled during St Clement Danes School’s annual Easter Concert, marking a poignant and historic occasion.
The event welcomes back Dr Josephine Valentine OBE, who led the school for 20 years from 1998 to 2018. Alongside her family and former colleagues.
The evening’s musical programme was specially dedicated to Dr Valentine’s career and features pieces she personally selected, reflecting her passion for education and commitment to excellence.
Her leadership not only shaped the school, but also extended beyond it through her work establishing and guiding the Danes Educational Trust.
The celebration was particularly significant as it coincides with her retirement after 42 years in education, including her recent role as CEO of the Trust.
Dr Valentine often remarked she had the “best job at the best school in the world” throughout her two decades as headteacher.
The school said in a statement: “We are immensely proud that her name will now be permanently linked to our centre of learning, honouring a leader who has shaped the lives of so many pupils across the Trust.”
