SENSATIONAL: Stanmore Choral Society cruise through long-awaited performance

Published on: 10th January 2022   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

Stanmore Choral Society (SCS) are inviting new members to join their ranks after performing for the first time in two years.

SCS, which has been an established choir for over 75 years, performed on December 12 at St.Mary-the-Virgin church, Kenton, much to the delight of their 40 members and the audience.

Sadly, it was musical director Harry Bradford’s last concert, but there are exciting times ahead for SCS as they are recruiting a new musical director to start in April, and until then are being ably cared for by James Mooney-Dutton, their usual accompanist, who is an experienced choral director himself.

They have a concert planned for the March 20, where they will be performing Vivaldi’s Gloria and other famous choral pieces. Additionally, they have recently recruited new members.

If you have ever thought that you would like to return to singing, no matter how long it has been, why not give Stanmore Choral society a try?

They are particularly looking for lower voices, but all are welcome to their rehearsals on Monday nights, 7.45pm – 9.45pm at St.William of York church hall in Du Cros Drive in Stanmore.
