Children at a primary school in Stanmore have raised £1,000 for a hospice which serves the area.

Whitchurch Primary School and nursery representatives from Year 6, and others from Whitchurch alumni together with Kat Portou, Assistant Headteacher for Upper Key Stage 2, and Mr Sanghani (Chair of Governors), presented a cheque for £1,000 to Ramesh Bhanderi from St. Luke’s Hospice on Wednesday July 18.

Over two years, pupils in Year 6 have carried out a variety of enterprise events in order to raise money for their chosen charity. Mr Bhanderi sent his thanks to all the pupils for their efforts.

Mrs Portou praised the children involved.

She said: “I am really proud of our Year 6’s they have worked tirelessly for two years, fundraising for charity and also to fund their own end of year party. They love being entrepreneurs and thinking of ways to raise money. The life skills they learn from these types of ventures are invaluable.”
