Secretary of State for Work and Pensions visits Watford Jobcentre

Iain Duncan Smith, the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, visited Watford on Friday (May 2) for a visit around the Jobcentre, on Exchange Road, to discuss the fall in unemployment and new changes for jobseekers. The visit coincided with the Help to Work scheme, which was launched the previous Monday. Mr Duncan Smith said: “I am not surprised that Watford has seen such a sharp fall in unemployment. “The employment rate in Watford is 89 per cent which is much higher than the national average. This is to do with the access to and from London and other contributory factors such as corporation tax reduction and the fact that the job centre here is excellent.” Read more in June’s My Watford News
