SCROOGE SCUPPERED: Police track down Abbots Langley Christmas character thieves

Published on: 24th December 2022   |   By: Darius Morgan   |   Category: Uncategorized

Police were called after a much-loved Christmas character was snatched away from an Abbots Langley drive.

Timmy, named by one of the child residents, is the second Follett Drive mannequin, as the first mannequin Murdoch was sadly stolen and never recovered last year.

Residents of Follett Drive, Kath Stronach and Alison Warner, initially took to social media to give the culprits a chance to return Timmy. But with no one coming forward, they had no choice but to report it to the police.

Herts Police used CCTV footage and a tracking device fitted inside Timmy to track down the culprits.

Thankfully, Timmy was safely returned to the residents of Follett Drive.

The residents of Follett Drive issued a “big thank you” to Abbots Langley police following Timmy being returned.

Resident Sally Newing said: “It was not a very festive thing to do at all. The Follett Drive bike and Timmy give much joy to the residents of Abbots Langley. We try to make Timmy and the bike colourful and themed throughout the year and bring some Christmas spirit to the area.”
