Politically minded pupils from schools in Croxley and the wider Three Rivers area quizzed local district councillors at this year’s Youth Council event.
A total of 74 pupils attended the Three Rivers Youth Council event at Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth on Wednesday, June 21.
Six councillors – Phil Williams, Jon Tankard, Ciaran Reed, Chris Mitchell, Narinder Sian and Chris Lloyd – attended to take the children’s questions.
At the event, pupils were told about the council’s election process and the purpose of the council. They were then given a task in which groups were given limited resources to build a tower, with the winner being the tallest.
They then presented projects showcasing what their schools had been up to during the last year. A vote on which project was the best declared Croxley’s Little Green School the winner.
Cllr Williams said: “It was amazing to see how engaged these young people are in learning the democratic process and their passion for local issues – especially the environment – is truly inspirational.”
